The core of the project is the renovation of the central court, the “Philippe Chatrier” and involves the reconstruction of the existing stands, and the installation of a retractable steel roof. 

The roof consists of 11 box girders (called “wings”) in high resistance steel, one of which is “fixed” while the others are “mobile”. Each of these girders have a height of about 3 m and a span of more than 100 m.
